Why a proof marketplace now

Indian AI vendors are about to face a buyer-trust problem before they face a tooling problem. Enterprise buyers do not only ask whether a vendor has AI features. They ask whether the vendor understands where Indian personal data goes, whether consent gaps are visible, whether shadow AI endpoints exist, and whether the team can show evidence without assembling a custom answer for every procurement thread.

That is why CrewCheck is launching the Trust Marketplace as a seeded, proof-backed directory rather than a heavy two-sided platform. The first version is deliberately simple: public listings, industry filters, compliance scores, recent verification dates, and proof-page links. It is designed to make a marketplace feel alive from day one without pretending that buyer dashboards, paid placement, watchlists, or rescans have already earned their place.

The scan to proof to list flywheel

The marketplace starts with the scanner. A vendor runs the free DPDP scan, sees the public-site score, reviews the findings, and chooses whether to make the proof page public. Once the score is public, the vendor can create a free marketplace listing from the scan result. That listing points back to the proof page, so every marketplace claim is tied to the scan that produced it.

This matters because directories become weak when listings are just self-submitted marketing copy. CrewCheck listings are anchored to observable signals: public URL, score, industry, last verified date, and proof artifacts. A buyer can compare vendors by posture and then open the proof page to inspect the underlying evidence instead of relying on a logo wall.

What buyers can compare

The first marketplace page gives buyers enough signal to decide who deserves a second look. They can filter by Fintech, HealthTech, EdTech, SaaS, BFSI, E-commerce, or Other. They can search by company name or domain. They can sort by highest score or recent verification. This is intentionally not a procurement suite yet. A buyer does not need a dashboard before there is enough supply to compare. A vendor does not need a premium listing before free listings produce qualified attention. The right early product is a trustworthy public directory that turns existing scan proof into discovery.

What vendors get

For vendors, the benefit is straightforward: run a free scan, fix obvious gaps, then list the company when the score is good enough to show. The listing becomes a lightweight trust asset that can be sent to buyers, investors, partners, or internal compliance reviewers. It also creates a reason to improve and rescan, because the public score is now part of the vendor's market-facing evidence.

The listing flow is intentionally free. CrewCheck is not asking vendors to pay before the directory has proven demand. Premium placement, automated rescans, and buyer-retention features should come only after the marketplace has real supply and buyer behavior that justifies those surfaces.

Why this launches seeded

A marketplace with zero listings looks dead, even if the product idea is correct. CrewCheck avoids that by seeding from existing public scans with meaningful scores before leaning on passive CTAs. The marketplace should open with credible supply, then use the free scanner as the main vendor onboarding path.

That sequencing is important. The scanner already has the strongest acquisition pull because it gives immediate value in two minutes. The marketplace becomes the second step: after proof exists, the vendor can turn it into distribution. The buyer dashboard becomes a later retention feature once buyers are actually returning to compare vendors.

How to operationalize this in an Indian AI workflow

Treat this topic as a production workflow, not a policy note. Identify the user action that starts the AI call, the personal or regulated data that can enter the prompt, the model provider that receives it, and the owner responsible for changing the route when something goes wrong. For an Indian product, the data inventory should explicitly cover Aadhaar-like identifiers, PAN, UPI IDs, account numbers, ABHA IDs, mobile numbers, addresses, and mixed-language free text because those are the values that often slip through generic Western scanners.

Once the workflow is named, put the control at the boundary. What evidence a buyer should ask for

A serious buyer should ask for evidence that connects the claim to live behavior. For a privacy claim, that means redaction logs, blocked examples, sanitized payloads, and data-retention behavior. For a safety claim, that means red-team cases, circuit-breaker decisions, and output scanning results. For a compliance claim, that means the notice, purpose, rule, and provider route can be reconstructed from the audit trail without waiting for an engineer to open production logs.

The practical standard is whether the team can answer a specific question without manual archaeology: what happened to this request, which rule fired, what data was removed, which provider saw the final payload, who approved the exception, and how long will the record be retained? If that answer requires five tools and a memory of how the system was meant to work, the evidence layer is not ready yet.

  • Keep one sample allowed request, one redacted request, and one blocked request for each high-risk AI route.
  • Link every public compliance claim to a live page, report export, gateway event, or scanner finding.
  • Review DPDP notice language whenever the AI feature changes its purpose, provider, or data fields.

A safe next step

Start with one high-risk path and make it boringly inspectable. Run realistic Indian examples through it, including Aadhaar-like numbers, PAN formats, UPI IDs, mixed-language prompts, and attempts to override system instructions. Check the user-facing response, the gateway event, the dashboard state, and the exportable report. The path is ready only when all four tell the same story.

That narrow verification habit matters more than a large compliance checklist. AI governance fails when teams assume controls are present because the architecture says they are. It becomes trustworthy when the live product can show the exact request, exact decision, exact redaction, exact provider route, and exact evidence behind the claim.

After that, make the check repeatable. Keep the examples in a small regression pack, rerun them before deployment, and compare the result with the public claim you are about to make. If the route, report, or dashboard no longer proves the claim, change the product or change the claim before a customer finds the gap.

The habit is deliberately plain: one workflow, one owner, one evidence trail, one live verification path. That is enough to turn a short article, launch note, or procurement answer into something an operator can actually use when a bank, insurer, hospital, or enterprise SaaS buyer asks for proof.
