CrewCheck vs AWS Bedrock Guardrails

Compare CrewCheck with AWS Bedrock Guardrails for AI governance and DPDP compliance. See Indian PII detection, audit trail, and RBI policy pack comparisons side

Quick Verdict

CrewCheck for multi-provider Indian compliance; Bedrock Guardrails for AWS-only workloads.

AWS Bedrock Guardrails only works within the Bedrock model marketplace. CrewCheck governs traffic across all providers with Indian-specific PII detection and DPDP compliance controls.

What AWS Bedrock Guardrails does well

AWS Bedrock Guardrails provides content filtering and PII detection within the AWS Bedrock ecosystem. For enterprises building AI entirely on AWS Bedrock models, it provides a convenient integrated safety layer with AWS-native logging and access control.

The provider lock-in problem

Bedrock Guardrails only covers models accessible through AWS Bedrock. Any traffic to OpenAI, Anthropic's direct API, Azure OpenAI, or local models falls outside its governance coverage. Indian companies that use a mix of providers — common for cost and performance optimization — have uneven compliance coverage with Bedrock Guardrails alone.

CrewCheck's gateway covers all providers from a single control plane. Adding a new model provider does not create a new compliance gap — the same governance controls apply regardless of which endpoint receives the request.

AWS Bedrock Guardrails also does not include India-specific PII detection (Verhoeff-validated Aadhaar, PAN, UPI) or DPDP Act policy packs. Indian enterprises building on AWS Bedrock still need CrewCheck for DPDP compliance.

Choose CrewCheck if…

You use providers beyond AWS Bedrock and need consistent governance

DPDP Act compliance and Indian PII detection are requirements

Provider-agnostic governance is a strategic requirement

Choose AWS Bedrock Guardrails if…

Your AI workloads are exclusively on AWS Bedrock with no plans to diversify

AWS-native integration with CloudWatch and IAM is a priority

You are already committed to an AWS-only AI architecture
